We’ve found two new items at Elias & Co. in Disney’s California Adventure featuring beloved Disney cats.Marie Cosplay Hoodie – $69.99We found the newest plush hoodie at Elias & Co. in Disney California Adventure. The white hoodie with pink highlights pays tribute to precocious Marie from the Aristocats. On the front of the zip up hoodie is the name Marie with her signature pink bow dotting the “I”. The hoodie also feature two pockets.The hood features both a pink bow and two ears while another large pink bow adorns the back.The new Marie hoodie joins other recent Cosplay hoodies that Disney has recently brought out.Cheshire Cat Sweater – $69.99The colorful Cheshire Cat sweater features a winking cat amid a swirl of colors. As the more than one-year-long refurbishment progresses, more track has been removed from Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom.Big Thunder Mountain Railroad RefurbishmentWe boarded the Liberty Square Riverboat to get a closer look at the latest progress of the refurbishment work.During our last update, orange cones had been set up on parts of the rockwork across the mountain range. The cones still remain and plywood pieces have also been added.We also noted that scaffolding had been installed next to the piece of track that curves out over the Rivers of America. The scaffolding is still there and orange cones have been set up on a piece of wood behind it. The piece of track from this portion of the ride has since been removed. Red straps have been attached to the wooden framework and also to the end of the scaffolding. Pieces of plywood spray painted with the word “Hole” in green and orange cones lay at the entrance to a cavern in the rockwork.A closer look inside the cavern reveals another hole with a piece of plywood over it that has been exposed with the removal of the track pieces. A new Daredevil mask is available at Walt Disney World just a few weeks before the premiere of “Daredevil: Born Again.”Daredevil Mask – 79.99The collectible mask is to scale and includes a display stand. The black stand features the “Daredevil” logo, a pair of overlapping red “D”s in a circle. The mask is bright red and covers the top half of the head.It has red eyes and gray accent lines around the sides. A pair of small devil horns stick out above the forehead.The mask is adjustable. With the mask on the display stand, the set is 12.75″ tall. Rolling planters have been set up around the seating area of Tortuga Tavern in Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. Tortuga Tavern RefurbishmentDuring our recent visit to Magic Kingdom, we observed that rolling planters have been set up around Tortuga Tavern in Adventureland.The planters span the entire length of the seating area at the currently closed restaurant. While guests can walk through the entryway to the area where you would normally place your order, the rolling planters have completely closed off access to the seating area. The registers are still in place with tarps covering them and menu boards and light fixtures are still hanging above. The Tortuga Tavern Code of Conduct signage remains posted on the wall.Peeking through the planters, it appears that refurbishment work is underway behind the shrub barrier. The structural pillars are wrapped in plastic near the bottom and secured with pieces of red tape. The refurbishment work could mean an eventual reopening of the quick-service location. At the beginning of this month, we reported that the official Walt Disney World website had operating hours listed for the restaurant beginning on January 1, 2025, but it failed to open as expected. The set includes a large pink button depicting Mickey and Minnie on a double date with Daisy and Donald. The couples wear retro clothing as they relax on a park bench. A red button features the Magic Key logo. A bright pink button features the Disneyland After Dark: Sweethearts’ Nite logo. Disneyland’s Pixar Place Hotel pool deck will be closing for refurbishment early next month.The pool deck at Disneyland’s Pixar Place hotel will close on February 3, 2025 for refurbishment according to the Disney website. A re-opening date has not been published. The pool, which is for the exclusive use of hotel guests, was renovated in 2023 to include Nemo and Friends. The Nemo splashpad is adjacent to the main pool area. Disney will be allowing guests to continue to use the pool deck as a fireworks viewing location during the refurbishment. Alternative Pool at Disneyland HotelDuring the refurbishment, Pixar Place guests will be able to use the pools at the Disneyland Hotel. The Disneyland Hotel is a short walk from the Pixar Place Hotel.Pixar Place HotelThe Pixar Place Hotel opened in January 2024 after extensive renovations to re-theme the hotel. Disney California Adventure is currently celebrating the Year of the Snake and its Magic Key holders by distributing a special keepsake button during the Lunar New Year Celebration. The button has a red background with lanterns and medallions. The featured snake is Juju from Disney’s “The Princess and the Frog.” Right above Juju is the Magic Key logo with Disneyland written underneath. Below the snake, Lunar New Year 2025 is written. The button’s design resembles this year’s Lunar New Year merchandise, and was designed especially for Magic Key holders by Disney artist, Ann Shen. Shen has also designed buttons for the event in the past. The complimentary button is available for pickup with presentation of a Magic Key pass under Silly Symphony Swings in Paradise Gardens Park from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. each day, while supplies last. Magic Key holders can also expect to find a unique and festive photo opportunity in the same location to commemorate Lunar New Year. Additional Magic Key holder offerings include a specially-priced Sip and Savor Pass with commemorative lanyard. This year’s Sip and Savor pass is $45 with the Magic Key discount and $48 without. The pass can be used for six food and nonalcoholic beverages at multiple locations around the park. There is also a Magic Key exclusive t-shirt for the celebration.
