Disney Live Entertainment shared a sneek peek at more of the new puppets debuting in “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure.”
‘The Little Mermaid’ Puppets
Disney previously shared photos of Max and a neon turtle puppet. They confirmed the show will have all new puppets. The new pictures include a life-size pink bird. It looks like one of the flamingos that appears during the “Kiss the Girl” scene of “The Little Mermaid.”
Also for “Kiss the Girl” are two green frogs sitting on lilypads. This photo also features the undersides of two flamingos.
The first piece of concept art (below) released of “The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” was for “Kiss the Girl,” which was not part of the previous show. The flamingo and the frogs appear in this concept art.
“The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” is replacing “Voyage of the Little Mermaid” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The former show, which closed permanently in 2020 although Disney made no announcements until 2023, featured puppets for the “Under the Sea” sequence. It looks like the new show will utilize puppets more throughout the performance.
Disney Live Entertainment shared the photos alongside pictures of artists working on Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After concept art and Disney Starlight parade costumes that were previewed a few days ago.
“The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure” will open this summer. The old marquee above the theater was torn down this week.
