The Emporium in Magic Kingdom has replaced the usual window displays featuring iconic moments in animated Disney movies with scenes from “Mickey’s Christmas Carol” for the holiday season.
‘Mickey’s Christmas Carol’ Window Dioramas Return
Each of the six windows feature dioramas with three-dimensional figures and decorations recreating scenes from the animated film. Below the scenes are open books with the left page reading “Mickey’s Christmas Carol” and the right side featuring a quote from the film relevant to the scene depicted.
One scene depicts the opening of the film, with a disgrunted Ebenezer Scrooge, played by Scrooge McDuck, being visited by his nephew, Fred, played by Donald Duck. Working at the desk across from Scrooge is Bob Cratchit, played by Mickey Mouse.
The second scene depicts Scrooge’s first visit by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley, portrayed by Goofy.
The third scene shows Scrooge and the Ghost of Christmas Past, played by Jiminy Cricket, looking through a window into Fezziwig’s, where Ebenezer Scrooge had his apprenticeship and fell in love.
The fourth scene shows Scrooge stunned as he looks out from his bed curtains to find the Ghost of Christmas Present, played by Willie the Giant, towering over him and eating mountains of food.
The fifth scene depics Scrooge falling down into his early grave with no one to mourn him. The Ghost of Christmas Future, played by Pete, looks down from a cloudy sky into the hole.
The final scene shows the happy ending to the story, with Scrooge visiting his nephew’s family on Christmas with gifts and a new outlook on life, having taken the lessons of each Ghost that visited him throughout the night.
