Various Jurassic World props, some of which used to be on the World-Famous Studio Tour, have been mysteriously moved backstage at Universal Studios Hollywood. The props are in an empty lot behind Revenge of the Mummy, not far from Jurassic World – The Ride.
Jurassic World Props
A T. rex, the front half of a Spinosaurus, an InGen truck, a boat, crates, and trees are the props currently visible in the lot. With the exception of the T. rex, all of these items used to be part of a Jurassic Park experience on the Studio Tour. Guests drove through a set of crates and tracks as Dilophosaurus animatronics sprayed them with water. The experience was part of the tour from 1996 to 2024.
The Spinosaurus was near the end of the Studio Tour set, peeking out among the prop trees. It’s now clearly just half of a Spinosaurus but the dinosaur’s missing back half was camouflaged on the Studio Tour experience. The Spinosaurus was the “villain” of Jurassic Park III.
Among the tree pieces backstage is a small white dinosaur cage.
The two larger crates are labeled with the InGen logo. Like the Spinosaurus, the boat is from Jurassic Park III. It may be the screen-used prop.
The InGen truck, too, may be screen-used. It’s parked next to the T. rex, giving a sense of scale to the full dinosaur model.
Based on the main T. rex in the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World series, this full-size statue depicts her mid-roar. It appears to be the same statue that was displayed at CityWalk in 2018 for the release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
The TikTok video below by user @themeparkmom shows some of the props in their original locations on the Studio Tour.
Though we don’t know the exact reason behind the moving of these props, it may indicate there will be a Jurassic Park / Jurassic World experience at Universal Fan Fest Nights 2026.
Fan Fest Nights 2026
Universal announced details for Universal Fan Fest Nights 2026 earlier this month. Although Jurassic Park is not listed among the fandoms receiving special experiences, that doesn’t mean it won’t have some extra love during the event. Last year, for example, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter had special event entertainment in the form of wandering Fantastic Beasts puppeteers, although this was not announced as part of the event.
Universal Studios Hollywood recently posted a seasonal casting call seeking both dinosaur puppeteers and actors to play face characters for John Hammond, Ian Malcolm, and Dennis Nedry. We speculated this could be for similar wandering character entertainment at Fan Fest Nights.
The props, however, suggest something bigger, like a walkthrough. This year marks the 25th anniversary of Jurassic Park III, so it could specifically celebrate that film.
