A recent post shared in the Facebook group “Disney for Seniors” praised Cast Members and the Reedy Creek Fire Department (RCFD) paramedic crew on their level of care during an emergency situation.
Cast Members and RCFD Crew Praised for Helping Guest
Julie Kendall Cox wrote in the Facebook group this past weekend, “My granddaughter fell in our room at the Grand Floridian within 10 minutes of checking in and hurt her arm. It was no negligence on Disney’s part, just a freak accident. My daughter called Guest Services to see if a golf cart could drive to our building and take them to our car to go to Prompt Care.” Prompt Care is a Central Florida urgent care center.
Instead of just sending the golf cart, Disney Cast Members and a paramedic team came directly to the room to check on Cox’s granddaughter.
“Guest services sent Security and Housekeeping to check on her and a paramedic crew showed up,” Cox wrote. She included a picture of the RCFD paramedics examining her granddaughter. “They determined she needed X-rays and offered to take her to the hospital at no charge. They also paid for cab fare for the ride back. I was impressed at the level of care shown by Disney. Long story short, she has 2 broken bones in her wrist but it does not require pins. No Tron ride for her this week.”
So while it’s potentially unsafe for her granddaughter to ride TRON Lightcycle Run and other roller coasters with a freshly broken arm, thankfully, she can still enjoy her vacation.
RCFD paramedics serve all of Walt Disney World property, offering on-site emergency care and ambulance transportation to nearby hospitals. To receive 24-hour in-room medical services at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, touch “Front Desk” on the in-room phone for assistance. There are also first aid stations at all theme parks.
