I’m planning my next trip for after Spring Break, before Summer next year. Things I know for sure, I will be using travel points for the hotel and air, flying into John Wayne and using the EVE shuttle from ART to get to my hotel (I’m traveling solo, this is definitely the cheapest transportation option I know of at $15 each way).
I will be doing 5 days at Disneyland and DCA for sure, I want to have 2 full rest days, and one day of other sightseeing. Last year that day was at Universal but unfortunately I gained enough weight during the covid shutdowns that I have had trouble losing, that I can’t do most of the rides there (Mummy, and Potter were a No, Mario was a yes, but it was the only ride with a test seat that I attempted that was a yes). I’m considering the D23 Disney Studio tour then maybe dipping up to Universal Citywalk to see if they have anything I’d want to buy, plus maybe grab some voodoo donuts to bring back to the hotel. But, I don’t know how I would be getting to those places yet, I feel like uber/lyft would be way too expensive to justify, and public transportation would take too long to justify. Last year I used the Anaheim Tour Company to get to and from Universal, not sure if I could work a deal with them where I ride with a groups of folks going to Universal and then get dropped off at Disney then they could take me up to Universal when they go to pick up everyone else. I know when I used them last year we had 1 passenger that was doing a studio tour at Warner Bros, so maybe that could be doable. Another possible thing I may ant to do while over that way is stop by Funko Hollywood and the El Capitan. I would be more likely to just go into Universal if I knew for sure they would have Elphaba and Glinda meeting guests, and that I’d be able to ride the new Fast and Furious ride, but anymore with Universal I don’t trust that I’d be able to ride anything until I can get back to a size XL t shirt
TBD – which hotel to stay at. I stayed at the HoJo last time and I liked it, but might see if anything is a cheaper option. I did see it listed when I filtered to hotels that have airport shuttles but I don’t see anything about how to use it assuming it is different than EVE.. Also the exact dates are TBD. I feel like I don’t really ant to be in the parks on Saturday or Sunday because I know those are very busy, so maybe one of those days is the studio tour day and the other is a rest day?
I’m hoping to be able to see Paint The Night (I’m assuming it will be back after Christmas Fantasy finishes it’s run since the anniversary is advertised as ending at the end of next summer), maybe World of Color, I liked the view from Lamplight but I REALLY don’t want to get stuck seated at the bar again, I struggled getting into that bar stool because it was so high up and would far prefer patio seating, but last year when I was solo they put me at the bar, I don’t know if I have to say “I’ll happily wait for a table on the water, please NOT at the bar itself” when I check in, assuming I can get a reservation at all. I would like to see Fantasmic, though admittedly it is less of a priority without Maleficent in Dragon form. I had heard that a replacement had been ordered but they haven’t officially announced that yet so I feel like Hawkeye in Endgame “Don’t give me hope”.
If anyone has any suggestions I’m all ears.
