Disneyland Resort seems fairly crowded throughout most of the year, so it’s always hard to answer when someone asks, “What are the best times of the year to visit Disneyland with fewer crowds?” It’s not an exact science, but it’s usually telling when ticket prices are lower on some days over others on Disneyland’s calendar. We know it can be a pain to go through all that research, so we’ve done it for you!
The slower months include January, February, April, August, September, and November (before the holiday season starts).
January
Recommend dates: Jan. 6-14, 21-31
- If you could care less about enjoying the holidays, festivals, nice weather, etc., at the park, then January is the ideal time to visit. It’s best to visit in January after the holiday season has officially ended.
- Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a bad weekend to visit, as it’s a three-day weekend for many.
- The Lunar New Year Festival takes place mid-January through Mid-February
February
Recommend dates: Feb. 1-6, 9-14, 24-27
- February is another great month to visit with low crowd levels, especially before Spring Break starts.
- Avoid President’s Day weekend, as three-day weekends are usually always crowded
April
Recommend dates: April 7-10, 21-22, 27-28
- This month is a bit busier than January or February, but you will still find lower crowd levels and the weather starts warming up!
- Skip Easter weekend, as some have a three-day holiday weekend
- The Food & Wine Festival is in full swing this month, so weekends will tend to be a bit busier than weekdays.
August
Recommend dates: Aug. 1-31
- Kids go back to school in August, which can be one of the hotter months of the year.
- Skip Labor Day weekend, as it’s a three-day holiday weekend!
September
Recommend dates: Sept. 3-30
- This month is THE hottest month of the year! You will find lower crowd levels, especially because Magic Key holders avoid the heat. Evenings are a bit more crowded as pass holders tend to pop in once the sun sets for dinner and fireworks,
- Halloween festivities start this month, so you can enjoy them before the major October crowds arrive. Earlier in the month will be less crowded than later in the month.
November
Recommend dates: November 1-6, 12-25
- This month, it starts getting cold in the morning, hot during the day, and sometimes cold again in the evenings. Our advice… look up the weather before your visit so you can decide whether or not to layer up!
- The holiday season kicks off this month! If you go earlier in the month, you’ll catch the crossover between Halloween and Christmas decor.
- Avoid Veteran’s Day weekend, as that’s a three-day holiday weekend!
- The later you go in the month, the more heavy the crowds get.
