We all know summer months can be brutally hot at theme parks! It was pretty toasty during a recent trip to Universal Studios Hollywood, but I managed to stay pretty comfortable all day because of how I found ways to keep cool. Read on below because I am sharing all the ways to beat the heat the next time you head to Universal Studios during the summer months! Pick attractions with shaded or indoor queues during the afternoon when it’s most hot out. Universal Studios has many rides with indoor queues; the outdoor ones are pretty shaded, AND there are tons of misters! One thing I will note about this park that I absolutely love is that they have great big fans with misters blasting throughout the park! It really helps provide relief wherever you are in the park! Stay hydrated! Pack a Hydro Flask water bottle instead of a plastic water bottle. Seriously, those flasks keep your water cold all day long, and you can refill them at most beverage carts and kiosks, all restaurants, and any of a dozen water fountains around the park. You even get free water refills using any cup at the Coke Freestyle machines. Get yourself cold/frozen treats throughout the day! During my recent trip, I grabbed a delicious strawberry swirl ice cream cone, and it was insanely good to munch on something so cold in the heat! Can’t have ice cream? Character dining is incredibly popular at Walt Disney World, but with that popularity comes a pretty hefty price tag per person. The best way to get your money’s worth is by researching the buffet inclusions, ensuring that your kids are reserved as such (and not adults by mistake, there’s a price difference) on the reservation, and scheduling it at the perfect time of day. We personally recommend Chef Mickey’s for breakfast, located inside Disney’s Contemporary Resort. First, the buffet has the BEST selection of breakfast foods like Mickey waffles, cheesy hashbrowns, french toast, ham & cheese omelets, fruit bar, pastry bar, biscuits & gravy, etc. You name it, they have it! Breakfast is the best meal to sit down and enjoy with characters for a few reasons… Full bellies at the start of the day will help keep everyone fed & hydrated before you even set foot in the parks. It will also likely hold your group off from snacking or needed a lunch break til later in the day, which means you can hit the ground running when you arrive at Magic Kingdom! 2. Character breakfasts are a GREAT way to get family photos with your favorite friends BEFORE everyone is all hot & sweaty from running around the park. One of the most fun parts about walking through Universal Studios Hollywood is seeing all the characters around interacting with guests. It may come as a surprise to many, but the park is FULL of a lot of characters, both on the Upper and Lower Lots. We all love seeing our favorite stars from our favorite Universal movies brought to life. Read on to find out which Universal Studios Hollywood characters you and your family and friends may see on your next trip to the park. Scooby-Doo and the Gang Sometimes you will see just Scooby, Scooby and Shaggy, or the whole dang gang! These characters are an incredibly fun group to bump into, and since most of us grew up watching Scooby-Doo, it’s a nostalgic moment for many.
