Holiday Travel Made Easy at Orlando International Airport (MCO)
The holiday season is here, and Orlando International Airport (MCO) is preparing to welcome millions of travelers to the City Beautiful. Between December 20, 2024, and January 5, 2025, MCO expects 2.9 million passengers—slightly more than last year’s record-breaking numbers. With Orlando hosting multiple college bowl games and being named a top travel destination by Conde Nast Traveler and WalletHub, the airport is ready to make your journey as smooth as possible.

Parking Options to Simplify Your Trip
MCO offers expanded parking options to accommodate holiday crowds. The surface lots—Atlantis, Endeavour, and Discovery—are now open but require E-Pass or SunPass Plus for entry. Ensure your account is set up with Easy Pay, and don’t forget your transponder for easy in-and-out access.
For added convenience, travelers can reserve parking spaces ahead of time through MCO’s website or app, helping you avoid last-minute stress.
Plan Ahead for a Seamless Experience
To keep your travels stress-free, MCO recommends arriving at the airport three hours before your flight, especially if you need to check luggage. Use the MCO app or website to reserve parking, check flight statuses, or navigate the terminals. As Kevin J. Thibault, CEO of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority, advises, “Preparation is key to a smooth travel experience.”

Holiday Travel Tips
- Arrive Early: Lines for parking, security, and baggage check may take longer than usual.
- Pack Light: Minimize carry-ons and wear shoes that are easy to remove.
- Check for Prohibited Items: Leave behind any restricted items, including large electronics, weapons, or liquids above TSA limits.
- Tag Your Luggage: Place identification tags on both the outside and inside of your bags.
- Use Rideshare if Parking is Full: If lots reach capacity, rideshare services or taxis are good alternatives.
Busiest Travel Day
MCO’s busiest day is expected to be Saturday, December 28, with over 192,000 passengers arriving and departing. With record crowds, patience and preparation will go a long way in ensuring a stress-free experience.
Whether you’re heading to Orlando for college football, family celebrations, or simply some Florida sunshine, MCO is ready to welcome you. Happy holidays, safe travels, and enjoy your time in the City Beautiful!
