Disney’s Animal Kingdom is about to get even more thrilling with the announcement of the new Tropical Americas area, set to open in 2027! As part of this exciting expansion, some changes and updates will take place to enhance the experience for all guests. Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming transformations at the park.

First, mark your calendars: DinoLand U.S.A. will permanently close on February 2, 2026. This means that if you want to experience fan-favorites like DINOSAUR, The Dino Institute Shop, Restaurantosaurus, and the Restaurantosaurus Lounge, you’ll need to visit before February 1, 2026. It’s a bittersweet farewell to a beloved area of the park, but the new adventures on the horizon are sure to make it worthwhile.

To prepare for the transition, Harambe Market will temporarily close this winter. This closure is essential to enable the market to begin serving some of the most popular items from DinoLand’s menu once it closes. Guests can expect Harambe Market to reopen in early 2026, ready to delight everyone with its delightful offerings.

Additionally, the popular Kali River Rapids will temporarily close on October 6, 2025, with plans to reopen in December 2025. This thrilling water ride is a must-do for many guests, and we can’t wait for it to make a splash again!

While these changes are underway, the beloved show “Finding Nemo: The Big Blue… and Beyond!” will remain open for guests to enjoy. Plus, your favorite characters—Donald, Daisy, Chip, and Dale—will continue to greet guests throughout the park, ensuring that the magic remains alive during this transition.

As we look forward to the grand opening of Tropical Americas in 2027, we can’t help but be excited about the new experiences that await. Disney’s Animal Kingdom continues to evolve, promising even more adventures and memories for families to cherish. Stay tuned for more updates as we embark on this exciting journey together!
