We’re not exaggerating when we say this might be some of the best Disney food we’ve ever had.

As part of a sneak peek aboard Disney Cruise Line’s upcoming ship, the Disney Destiny, we had the chance to preview one of its most exciting dining experiences: Pride Lands – Feast of The Lion King. This brand-new restaurant is a musical dining journey that brings the iconic story of The Lion King to life through song, storytelling, and sensational food.

Set to sail for the first time in November 2025, the Disney Destiny is themed around heroes and villains, and Pride Lands fits in perfectly. While guests dine, they’ll be treated to a live, Broadway-style performance by a pride of talented singers and musicians who retell Simba’s legendary journey to becoming king—all while performing the beloved songs that defined a generation.

But let’s talk about the food.

This immersive experience features a menu inspired by African cuisine, and every dish we tried was absolutely packed with bold, unique flavors. Here’s what stood out:

  • Swahili Coconut-Tamarind Red Snapper: Served with coconut rice and a pineapple-mandarin-capsicum compote. It was light, flavorful, and perfectly balanced.

  • Port Wine Braised Center-Cut Beef Short Rib: A hearty, tender short rib served with malanga mash, long green beans, and crispy shallots. This one was a showstopper.

  • Peri-Peri Shrimp: A spicy, creamy dish featuring chili-garlic shrimp over creamy gouda pap, toasted corn, and a signature peri-peri sauce.

  • Berbere Spiced Roasted Chicken: Served in a pan with jollof rice, green plantains, blistered tomatoes, and a green harissa sauce that added just the right amount of heat.

And of course, dessert did not disappoint:

  • Pineapple Upside-Down Cake: A moist yogurt cake topped with caramelized pineapple, cherries, and rooibos mousse.

  • Warm Chocolate Malva Pudding: A rich chocolate pudding with apricot jam, buttery cream sauce, and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Absolutely decadent.

Everything we tasted was a hit—from the bold spices to the unique textures and stunning presentation. Dining at Pride Lands felt like stepping into the heart of the savanna, complete with music, magic, and unforgettable cuisine.

We can’t wait to experience the full show and set sail on the Disney Destiny later this year!
