With the debut of the Haunted Mansion Parlor on the Disney Treasure cruise ship, the classic attraction has received new, expanded lore. But is the Parlor “physically” connected to the original ride? We spotted something in the Mansion’s ballroom that may link the two further.

Painting of a figure in medieval armor holding a spear, set against a muted, dark background with a wooden frame.

The Parlor’s backstory follows The Mariner, and is officially a ship’s parlor. The Mariner is based on art by Marc Davis. He’s already part of the attraction, as his portrait hangs in the load area at the Magic Kingdom and in the Library at Tokyo Disneyland. Another portrait hangs in the Parlor itself.

There are many references to the attraction in the Parlor, from Madame Leota to the Hitchhiking Ghosts. But are there any references to the Parlor in the attraction?

The entrance to the Haunted Mansion Parlor is the same as the one in the Ballroom scene. It can be spotted on the balcony at the left. Fans have long wondered where the archway leads, so the design may imply that the parlor is the answer. Despite being officially part of an old vessel, the magic of the Mansion may mean they could still be connected.

Disney has not said anything in regards to the speculated connection.
