Mufasa builds upon the stunning digital artistry showcased in the 2019 The Lion King, which itself grossed over $1.6 billion worldwide. “To create something this meaningful… and resonate all across the globe, is something only Disney can do,” remarked Rebecca Cline, Director of the Walt Disney Archives.

Beyond the box office, The Lion King has achieved legendary status on Broadway. The 1997 musical, a six-time Tony Award winner, continues to enchant audiences worldwide with over 112 million guests having seen productions across 29 countries. “The Lion King is probably the most successful musical ever to be launched around the world,” stated Thomas Schumacher, Chief Creative Officer of Disney Theatrical Productions.

The magic of The Lion King extends far beyond the stage. Guests can experience the vibrant Festival of The Lion King at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, encounter beloved characters throughout Disney parks, and soon embark on a thrilling new ride-through attraction inspired by the 1994 film at Disneyland Paris.
