Scrims outside Skull Island: Reign of Kong at Universal Islands of Adventure indicate Universal could finally fix the ride’s outdoor section.

The tan scrims run behind a fence on the left of the Skull Island: Reign of Kong entrance. The scrims help block the outdoor portion of the ride from view. When the outdoor portion was utilized, guests outside could see trucks going by.
Skull Island: Reign of Kong opened at Universal Islands of Adventure in 2016. The ride was designed to allow the trackless vehicles to skip the outdoor portion during inclement weather. However, rain or shine, the outdoor portion hasn’t been used since early 2023.
The problem is reportedly with the giant temple doors that swing open as vehicles approach from the outside. The scrims suggest Universal might be fixing the doors or other issues.
