Construction continues on the DVC Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort as its opening day approaches. The latest construction updates include new balcony preparations, a clean pool area, and a completed turtle mural.
DVC Island Tower Construction
Since our previous update earlier this month, the tribal turtle mural on the right side of the tower has been completed. Previously, the mural stopped about halfway down the building. Now, the turtle mural reaches the bottom of the building.
Some electrical equipment has been installed behind the retaining wall here, which is still not fully painted.
Wooden boards have been added to balconies along the far right wing that previously did not have any barriers. We saw this previously when crews first began to install glass and later themed ironwork barriers on other balconies.
The overhang at the entrance of the tower has had very little progress since the beginning of the month.
At the far left wing of the DVC Island Tower, there appears to be a wood board in place on the second from the top floor on the balcony. Previously, there was glass in its place. Perhaps there was some damage sustained from Hurricane Milton when it hit Florida earlier this month.
On the opposite side of the building when viewed from Bay Lake, much of the same continues. There are no major progress updates; rather, it seems the crews are just cleaning up and resuming smaller projects.
Crews were working diligently at the outdoor Wailulu Bar area. Themed wood slats have been added to the roof of the bar. While we were there, trees were being moved.
The pool area looks just about ready for guests. The water looks inviting but the equipment on the sides of the pool serves as a reminder of the active construction area.
Moana’s outrigger canoe at her splash pad remains securely wrapped from the elements.
At the time of publication, the Aotearoa building’s roof remains damaged from Hurricane Milton. However, there has been some progress in repairing the roof of the Tuvalu building.
