In an Instagram post, Snow Monster announced that Wednesday, October 23 will be the last day that Mini Monster will be open at Universal CityWalk Hollywood. The company stated the following as their reason for closing:

Universal has decided to take back the space. We tried our best to stay, but this decision was beyond our control.

The reality of being a small business is that you’re often at the mercy of the landlord. Even when you do well, rising rents can make it impossible to afford, and sometimes a landlord may simply choose not to renew a lease. We invested our resources and energy into building this location, hoping to stay indefinitely.

The Mini Monster store at Universal CityWalk Hollywood was one of five locations worldwide. The bubble tea store will still operate two locations in California, one in Hawaii, and one in Vietnam.

At this time, we don’t know what will be replacing Mini Monster. We will provide updates as more information becomes available.

This is the latest change to come to Universal CityWalk Hollywood, as in September, Sanrio Smile Shop and Hello Kitty and Friends Cafe both opened.
