Well, it’s nearly a year ago I made my first visit to DL in 6 years, and do I have some “dismaying observations”:

1. Never thought in my life I would have to make an online reservation to get into a theme park! I feel sorry for those who just show want to buy a ticket for the day, and told “No Disneyland for you!” Like a soup Nazi joke. Except they are not joking!

2. I picked a Monday thinking most people will be at work. Should be an easy day! Heck no! I’m standing at Jolly Holiday Bakery at noon, the hub … the whole park was as packed as a summer day! Where were these people coming from? Don’t they have jobs? Ages from 20 to 60. Hardly a senior citizen in sight. There was no special event in the park. Insanely expensive, and yet …. Packed like sardines in a can! I don’t get it!

3. I made sure I was at Rise of the Resistance first thing in the morning! Broke down half way through the queue. Instead of leaving I stuck it through. More than an hour later back up. An incredible ride I will say!! Then to Smugglers Run …. Where that broke down mid way through the queue. By noon I only made it on 3 rides. And reluctantly spent 60 bucks for 3 lightning lane tickets to make up for the loss in time. So now I think my investment for 1 day 1 park was up $230 dollars. Where my 2017 trip was half that or less!

4. It’s bad enough we all are glued to our phones. And pay less attention on what’s going on around us. What does Disney do? Encourage us to rely on our phones to make reservations, and pay for meals before we actually pick up our meal. Some may think that’s convenience, for me, it’s added rigmarole. Hi cashier, this is what I’d like, here’s my money. Much easier than scrolling through a bunch of sub menus! The updates on ride-waits was a bit handy, but I just absolutely hated having to rely on the phone. We got by our day at DL just fine in the 70s, 80, 90s and had more time to smell the roses!

5. So, I saved Tomorrowland for the evening. Space Mountain had been down for a lengthy rehab. I wanted to see how much they ruined the carousel building and see junk lay before me. That was shut! That was around 9pm. No big loss! lol I had my Star Wars fill on the west side of the park, so, no Star Tours for me. I’m also over it with kiddy cartoon rides, Nemo and Buzz. Not much else worthwhile to experience. So, I did something I never thought ever happen. After being in the land for 10 minutes…. I left! Didn’t go on a single ride! A far cry compared trips in the late 70s and 80s when I easily spent half the day when there was plenty of things to do! I use to have excitement about what was next for Tomorrowland. Admired what imagineers had up their sleeves. Never thought it would become a land corporate would avoid as if it was Chernobyl! 36 years of mismanaging the land starting with the closure of America Sings in 1988. 1988 to 1996 TL was a series of closed facilities. Today it’s back to that state AGAIN with the PM track, 3D theater, Starcade space, all shuttered, with the carousel theater might as well be closed. Who cares about a collection of Star Wars memorabilia displays when there’s a 14 acre land on the other side of the park to see.

Over priced
Over crowded
Over complicated via reliance with our phones to order, reserve, what else am I missing?
Tomorrowland a pathetic mess Disney will not touch!

Seeing Micechat’s discussion forum activity dwindle is telling, with people’s disenchantment….. and saying:

See ya at Knott’s!
