During my recent trip to the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, I wanted to dine somewhere new and exciting. I ended up at Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen in Adventureland, where Cast Members take the Jungle Cruise off the boat and into the dining scene. This sit-down dining spot is perfect for explorers of all ages and offers premium table-service dining in 3 curiously quirky rooms: the crew’s colonial-era Mess Hall (which is not messy at all, thank you very much); the Jungle Room, the former family parlor of Dr. Albert Falls himself; and the S.E.A. Room—a once-secret meeting place for the Society of Explorers and Adventurers!

The menu boasts bold and flavorful cuisine from Asia, South America, and Africa, prepared by daring riverboat pilots. Prepare your palate for exotic flavor adventures sure to tame your wildest appetite and pickiest eaters! Prepare for a culinary cruise of flavors with menu items such as steak, stew, noodles, fish, lamb chops, fried rice, Char Siu-marinated pork tenderloin, and much more.

During my visit, I opted for the Nile Nellie’s Noodle Bowl and, for dessert, the Kungaloosh!

Nile Nellie’s Noodle Bowl

Niles and Niles of Rice Noodles…Sautéed Shrimp tossed with a Spicy Tamarind Sauce, Pickled Radish, Eggs, Toasted Peanuts, and Fresh-cut Herbs

This dish is absolutely fantastic! If you love Pad Thai, you will likely love this dish. There, unfortunately, aren’t literally niles and niles of noodles, and I wish the portion size was a tad bit bigger, but nonetheless, this noodle dish is so delicious. The shrimp are a tad bit on the salty side, but it wasn’t so over the top that it took away from the dish in any way (and they do give you a ton of shrimp!). The sauce was flavorful and there is so much texture going in on this dish. I highly recommend this one!

Kungaloosh!

An African-inspired Chocolate Cake with Caramelized Bananas served with Cashew-Caramel Ice Cream topped with Coffee Dust

This adventurous little dessert is a bit pricey for its size, but boy, is it delicious! The chocolate cake has more of a brownie texture and taste, and the carmelized bananas with the cashew-caramel ice cream make every bite delightful. It is rich but overly so, and you will savor every bite. If you are a chocolate lover, chances are you’ll enjoy this one, too!
