A third person has been charged with the recent theft of thousands of limited-edition Bluey coins from The Royal Australian Mint. Initially reported in July 2024, the incident involved the theft of approximately 63,000 unreleased $1 Bluey coins from a warehouse located in Wetherill Park, Sydney.

In the wake of the theft, law enforcement has arrested multiple suspects linked to the crime. A 47-year-old man was arrested shortly after the robbery occurred, and a subsequent arrest included a 44-year-old man who allegedly worked at the Sydney warehouse that housed the coins.

In the clip, police in what appears to be swat gear kicked the woman’s door and demanded she surrender peacefully. The video ended with officers escorting the alleged heist accomplice away.

Police will allege in court that the 27-year-old woman drove the getaway vehicle in the Bluey coin heist this summer.

Following the high-profile heist, the New South Wales police launched a specialized intervention known as “Strike Force Bandit.” This task force was established specifically to address the theft of the Bluey coins and to ensure that similar incidents could be mitigated in the future. Detectives estimated the value of the stolen coins to be as high as $600,000.

As investigations unfolded, police reported that they had seized a fraction of the stolen goods, with 189 coins recovered during the arrests. Detectives also confiscated coins from the home of a legitimate coin collector who assisted in identifying the 47-year-old male suspect.
