Epic Universe has been open for over a month now, and it’s safe to say Universal’s latest theme park is a major success.

The park features an abundance of new rides and attractions, some of which are being described as the best in the industry. These include Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment and Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry, two highly immersive, detail-rich experiences.

Epic Universe is also home to other rides, ranging from dueling roller coasters to slow-moving dark rides. With so many experiences to enjoy, guests will want to make the most of their time inside the park. This will get a little harder to do in August, as Epic Universe will begin closing an hour earlier.

Starting on August 18, 2025, Epic Universe will be open between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. For the past several weeks, Epic Universe has remained open from 10 a.m. through 9 p.m., with the occasional 10 p.m. closing time. However, this will change later this summer.

Universal Studios Florida will be open between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. most nights in August. The same applies to Universal Islands of Adventure, aside from the occasional 7 p.m. closing time on select dates.

This means most guests will have two fewer hours to spend inside Epic Universe than the other two theme parks at Universal Orlando Resort, assuming they are visiting in the second half of August. It’s a mystery as to why Universal is limiting the operating hours of its new park. Universal may simply be monitoring its new park, taking note of what’s working and what’s not. Adjustments are still being made a month after the park’s opening, with plenty more changes likely on the horizon.

Universal has already confirmed its plans to expand Epic Universe and the rest of its Orlando theme park resort, though exact details of what may join the parks are unknown. Work is currently underway on Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit at Universal Studios Florida. The iconic coaster has stood tall above the park for years, but will close permanently in 2025 to make way for a completely new ride.

Universal has yet to announce what this new ride will be, though internet rumors point toward a possible Ghostbusters-themed attraction.
