Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) is off to a triumphant start at the box office after devouring $147.3 million domestically and $171 million from 82 international markets in its first weekend, bringing its global box office total to a dino-sized $318 million so far, per Variety.

This means that Rebirth has already made back its $180 million budget. But the film has proven extremely divisive, with some audiences and critics praising the sequel for its VFX and action sequences, and others criticizing its screenplay and new character ensemble.

Nevertheless, if Rebirth continues on this trajectory, a sequel is inevitable.

While nothing is confirmed, looking at the history of the franchise, Jurassic Park (1993) and Jurassic World (2015), which both grossed $1 billion+, each got their own trilogy of films.

But outside the film series, there are already three Jurassic sequels now in development.

Set between the films Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018) and Jurassic World Dominion (2022), the Camp Cretaceous follow-up Jurassic World: Chaos Theory (2024) sees “The Nublar Six” characters uncovering dangerous global conspiracies and surviving deadly dinosaurs in a world where the prehistoric animals are thriving on a global scale.

The animated Netflix series has already had three seasons and will return on November 20.

The first-person action-adventure game “Jurassic Park: Survival” has been in development for some time. The first trailer dropped at the Game Awards in December 2023 and there have only been a few teases from publishers and developers Saber Interactive since.

Either way, “Survival” sounds very promising. Set 24 hours after the events of the original 1993 film, players assume the role of stranded InGen scientist Dr. Maya Joshi as she battles for survival against the island’s prehistoric inhabitants. Watch the trailer below:

Jurassic World Rebirth 2 hasn’t been confirmed yet, but as the new film is officially billed as the start of “a new Jurassic era,” while also taking into account its box office performance so far, a follow-up seems inevitable.

Directed by Gareth Edwards (2014’s Godzilla) and with a screenplay by David Koepp (Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park), Rebirth stars Scarlett Johansson (Avengers: Endgame), Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton), Rupert Friend (Obi-Wan Kenobi), and Mahershala Ali (The Green Book) as experts on a top-secret mission to an abandoned InGen island where they must retrieve life-changing DNA from three colossal dinosaurs. But during their expedition, they come face to face with horrifying genetic mutations.

The film also stars Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer), Luna Blaise (Manifest), David Iacono (Dead Boy Detectives), Audrina Miranda (Lopez vs Lopez), Philippine Velge (Station Eleven), Bechir Sylvain (BMF), and Ed Skrein (Deadpool) in supporting roles.
