After years of sitting on the bench, Disney’s most mischievous alien is finally back in the game.

Thanks to the live-action Lilo & Stitch (2025) becoming a worldwide box office phenomenon, fans everywhere have been wondering the same thing: where’s Stitch in the parks?

The movie’s record-breaking $182.7 million domestic debut over Memorial Day weekend and its near-billion-dollar global haul proved one thing—Stitch’s appeal isn’t limited to kids. Millennials and Gen Z who grew up watching the original animated film turned out in droves to support the blue ball of chaos and heart. That surge of nostalgia and enthusiasm clearly made its mark, because Disney just made a move fans didn’t see coming.

For a while, it looked like Stitch’s Disney Parks career might be over. His old attraction, Stitch’s Great Escape, was shut down and gutted, and for years, he only showed up at the occasional meet-and-greet or on a t-shirt. Rumors swirled about a new attraction coming to Tomorrowland, but nothing concrete had been announced.

This week, however, Disney quietly added Stitch to one of Magic Kingdom’s most iconic attractions: the Walt Disney World Railroad. That’s right—Stitch is now hitching a ride on the train.

As part of a new audio overlay introduced while the railroad operates on a modified loop due to ongoing Frontierland construction, guests boarding at Main Street, U.S.A. for the route to Fantasyland are now greeted by Stitch himself. The beloved alien has joined the train’s conductor to provide fresh narration along the short journey to Storybook Circus. His voice injects a bit of humor, charm, and “experiment 626 energy” into a ride that’s usually known for its calm, nostalgic vibes.

Right now, the Stitch overlay only plays in one direction—from Main Street to Fantasyland. On the return trip, the classic conductor narration remains unchanged, at least for the moment. It’s a temporary enhancement, but it might be testing the waters for more Stitch integration moving forward.

The decision to bring Stitch onto the railroad feels like a smart way to reintroduce him without the need for a massive new attraction—yet. It’s an easy win for Disney, giving fans a taste of Stitch’s return while construction continues on Frontierland and Tomorrowland undergoes its slow transformation. Some guests have even noted that sections of the train seating have been adjusted to face both forward and backward, letting you choose how you experience the ride.

With the full railroad loop expected to return once Frontierland’s updates wrap up years from now, it’s not hard to imagine this overlay expanding—or even inspiring something bigger down the road. And based on how well the movie performed, fans would likely show up in full force for anything with Stitch’s name on it.

This might not be the Stitch attraction some were hoping for, but it’s a start. And in Disney’s world, sometimes a small step can lead to big things. Whether it’s the spark for a new ride, an overlay for another attraction, or a bigger presence in Tomorrowland, one thing’s clear: Stitch is back, and he’s got fans riding along for the journey—literally.
