Do you remember the tagline “If it’s not Jurassic Park, it’s extinct”? Well, as genius as that was back when the original 1993 film was released, it may no longer ring true.

2025 is shaping up to be quite a year for the Jurassic franchise. With the imminent release of Jurassic World Rebirth (2025), the seventh film in the long-running series, and other upcoming projects, including the first-person action-adventure video game “Jurassic Park: Survival”, there won’t be a shortage of new content for fans to sink their teeth into.

However, it seems Jurassic isn’t the only player in the dino-thriller arena anymore. Not only is there the upcoming survival horror film Primitive War (2025), based on the book series of the same name, now, another new dino-thriller has been revealed: Jurassic: Reborn (2025).

Deadline has reported that production has wrapped on Jurassic: Reborn, an action horror film from L.A.-based German director Marcel Walz, and starring Daniel Baldwin (Vampires), Bryan Scamman (The Box), Danielle Titus (When the Night Falls), and Esmeree Sterling (Nobody’s Angel). The article also contains first-look images from the film.

However, the plot doesn’t scream originality. In fact, it sounds like a complete rip-off.

The synopsis reads: “When cutting-edge research leads to the creation of living dinosaurs, a team of scientists on a secluded island must risk their lives and confront the now-growing creatures to prevent the animals from escaping and attacking the mainland.”

Interestingly, it seems Jurassic doesn’t necessarily hold the patent to its own concept anymore, whether it’s the genetic engineering aspect or the dino theme park, as there are several non-Jurassic games in the works that center on these concepts (“Prehistoric Kingdom,” “Cretaceous Kingdom,” and “Clawed”, to name just a few).

In addition to all the aforementioned dino projects, there’s also the upcoming film Flowervale Street (releasing theatrically on August 14, 2026) starring Anne Hathaway and Ewan McGregor. While plot details remain under wraps, the ’80s-set film directed by David Robert Mitchell (It Follows), is rumored to revolve around dinosaurs.

Jurassic: Reborn is produced by Atomic Blonde Entertainment and is set for a limited theatrical run starting on June 24, with an on-demand release scheduled for the same day.

Jurassic World Rebirth arrives in theaters on July 2.
