With the D23 Expo in two months, Disney fans are wondering what else will be announced for Disney World. Sure, Josh D’Amaro could come out and give updates on the projects we already know exist or provide some more details about Villains Land in Magic Kingdom, but what else could Disney possibly announce after last year’s slew of information?

With construction underway on Monsters, Inc. Land at Hollywood Studios, Tropical Americas Land at Animal Kingdom, and Cars Land at Magic Kingdom, D’Amaro could give some much-needed updates, but a new rumor has surfaced about where Disney could be going with this year’s announcements.
There are two main untapped areas that fans hope will be refurbished: the entrance to Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom, where Stitch’s Great Escape and Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor are, and the Animation Courtyard at Hollywood Studios that houses Star Wars: Launch Bay, Disney Jr. Play and Dance, and The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure.

According to a rumor on social media, one of those areas is about to get a complete overhaul. The rumor says there is a “completed idea” for the overhaul of Animation Courtyard, and that the idea is “ready to be released to the public.” What better place to release this rumor than at the D23 Expo?
Given that The Little Mermaid: A Musical Adventure just opened at Hollywood Studios, it seems unlikely that Disney would close that show, but that still leaves the areas of Launch Bay and Disney Jr. Plan and Dance that can be used for an updated area. There is also land behind Launch Bay that Disney could use for any expansion project.

The Animation Courtyard caught the ire of Disney fans after it was announced that Muppeet Courtyard would be closing for a new Monsters, Inc. Land. Fans wanted that new land to be built in Animation Courtyard, which seems disjointed, at best, right now.
Given that Launch Bay currently only houses Star Wars character meet-and-greets and is completely removed from Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, it only seems right that the characters be moved to the themed land and that something else be allowed to move into that virtually unused space.

For now, these are just online rumors, but there is some excitement that Hollywood Studios, which desperately needs expansion, could be getting even more rides and attractions.
