One of the remaining nostalgic decorations at the World of Disney store in Disney Springs at Walt Disney World Resort disappeared earlier this month, and we’re happy to report that it’s back. Here’s what you need to know.
Seven days ago, Inside the Magic reported that a life-size Cinderella statue had disappeared from outside one of the main entrances to the World of Disney. In late 2024, Walt Disney World Resort spent two months refurbishing Cinderella and another statue of Aurora, which stands at the other side of the World of Disney entrance. When Cinderella went missing earlier this month, Aurora remained, making the statue’s disappearance all the more unusual.

After the Cinderella statue disappeared, Walt Disney World Resort modified the main entrance to World of Disney, removing a sign and replacing it with several banners. Then, a similar Mr. Potato Head Statue went missing from the entrance to Once Upon A Toy, another Disney Springs store just steps from World of Disney. Just like with Cinderella and Aurora, a nearby Buzz Lightyear statue wasn’t removed alongside Mr. Potato Head.
These unannounced changes combined left Disney Parks fans wondering whether Walt Disney World Resort planned to remove the remaining nostalgic decor, like Cinderella and Mr. Potato Head, from Disney Springs. From 2017 to 2018, Disney remodeled World of Disney, its biggest merchandise location, replacing much of the vintage Disney theme with a modern, minimalist feel. For many Disney Parks fans, character statues like Cinderella and Aurora are the last remaining evidence of the once-nostalgic aesthetic of World of Disney.

Thankfully, at least for now, these popular photo ops aren’t going anywhere. As of Tuesday, July 22, Cinderella has returned to her place outside World of Disney. @Attractions shared these recent photos of the statue on X (formerly known as Twitter):

As of now, Mr. Potato Head hasn’t returned to his place outside Once Upon A Toy at Disney Springs. If the Toy Story (1995) statue returns on the same timeline as Cinderella, it should return sometime next week. It’s unclear whether the nearby Aurora or Buzz Lightyear statues will undergo similar short refurbishments.
