The classic Adventureland entrance sign has been removed from its place at the Magic Kingdom. Before being removed, guests could see the sign as they enter Adventureland from the central hub on Main Street, U.S.A.

The sign wasn’t the only thing to vanish overnight; other themed props like masks and oars also disappeared. The main support structure remains in place, though, according to WDWNT, holes and other unsightly blemishes can be seen.

It’s possible the sign is being refurbished or replaced, or this entire structure is set to be overhauled.

Like all of Magic Kingdom’s other themed entrances, this entrance point has served as the face of Adventureland for decades.

Adventureland is home to some of Disney World’s most iconic attractions, including the “world-famous” Jungle Cruise. Guests will also find Pirates of the Caribbean here.

The removal of these items comes as Disney also makes significant changes to both Adventureland and Frontierland.

The finishing touches are being placed on The Beak and Barrel, a new Pirates of the Caribbean-themed bar coming to Magic Kingdom. This new location will directly tie into the world of both the movies and the classic dark ride they were based on.

The Beak and Barrel officially opens on August 29. Advanced reservations are heavily recommended.

Tom Sawyer Island, the Liberty Square Riverboat, and the Rivers of America all permanently closed in July to make way for Magic Kingdom’s newest expansion, Piston Peak.

This new area will be inspired by Pixar’s Cars series, allowing guests to step into a richly detailed and feature-rich world. Piston Peak will offer several attractions to explore, namely an off-road racing adventure.

Disney began slowly draining the water in its Rivers of America earlier this week, with water levels dropping significantly Friday morning. It’s expected this water will all be gone within the next few days, giving Disney World room to begin the groundwork on Piston Peak.

Construction is expanding far beyond Magic Kingdom, with work also underway on a new land at both Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. The former is set to get a new, “Tropical Americas”-inspired land. Once complete, this new area will feature several new attractions and places to explore.

Work is also continuing on transforming Muppets Courtyard into Monstropolis at Hollywood Studios. Muppets Courtyard, along with everything inside it, officially closed at the park this summer. Eventually, this area will become home to Monstropolis, the city seen in Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. (2001).

Most, if not all, of these projects are expected to be open by 2027, though there’s plenty more in store for Walt Disney World Resort and beyond.
