In the early morning hours of October 25, an officer from the Custer County Sheriff’s Department noticed a Range Rover parked on the side of the road. The officer approached the car and noticed a man asleep in the back seat. The officer drove up the road a little way, pulled over, and waited. Eventually, the Range Rover drove past him, and he pulled the car over.
The man in the front seat admitted to the officer that he was drunk. That drunk man ended up being Zachery Ty Bryan, one of the stars of the hit ABC show, Home Improvement.

This was the second time that Bryan was arrested for drunk driving just this year. Sadly, when he was put into the back of a squad car, he did not seem very apologetic for his actions. Instead, he actually seemed somewhat annoyed.
In the video, released by the Custer County Sheriff’s Office, Bryan said that he is a good person and sarcastically apologized for liking to drink. He said to Trooper Kendrick Johnson, “I’m just a good dude, man, I don’t know why everybody – I’m sorry I like to drink.” He also said that he thought he was doing the right thing by trying to sleep off the alcohol.

Trooper Johnson showed no judgment and told the actor that they couldn’t let him put others in danger.
“You have zero judgment from me. Here’s the deal, I got you for driving under the influence. It’s a safety deal. If we were just to leave you there and we’re not going to know if you’re going to stay there or drive away. Like you’ve said yourself, you’re not safe to drive, but we deal with public safety.”
The officer then read the Implied Consent test request and told Mr. Bryan that he would be given a breathalyzer test. However, the actor said that he would not submit to a breathalyzer test. The actor did perform a field sobriety test and reportedly failed it, further indicating that he was drunk and should not have been behind the wheel.

This marks the second time this year that Bryan has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. On February 17, he was taken into custody in La Quinta, California, and charged with contempt of court, a misdemeanor. His bail was set at $65,000, which was paid, and he was released the same day.
Bryan was scheduled to appear in court in April for the misdemeanor charges, but in March, those charges were elevated to a felony. This change occurred because, at the time of his arrest, he had three or more prior convictions within the last 10 years.
