Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Chip, and Dale are leaving their current meet-and-greet location at Walt Disney World Resort in February 2026. Disney hasn’t said when or where these characters will move to another theme park area.

On Tuesday, September 2, Walt Disney World Resort announced that the remaining parts of DinoLand U.S.A. at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park will close permanently on February 2, 2026. The phased retirement of the opening-day land began in January 2025 with the closure of TriceraTop Spin, Chester & Hester’s Dino-Rama (including the Fossil Fun Games), and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures. On September 1, The Boneyard play area welcomed its final guests.
DinoLand U.S.A.’s fate was sealed at D23 Expo 2024, when Walt Disney Imagineering announced plans to build a Tropical Americas-themed land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. We now know that the area will be called Pueblo Esperanza and feature two Encanto (2021) attractions, as well as an Indiana Jones retheme of DINOSAUR. It’s scheduled to open sometime in 2027.

On February 1, 2026, the remaining parts of DinoLand U.S.A. will welcome their final guests, including DINOSAUR, Trilo-Bites, and Restaurantosaurus. The closure of DinoLand U.S.A. means that the four Disney characters currently meeting guests there–Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Chip, and Dale–will have to pack their bags.
According to theme park journalist Scott Gustin (@ScottGustin on X, formerly known as Twitter), Walt Disney World Resort has confirmed that the characters will find another place to meet guests at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park after DinoLand U.S.A. closes. However, Disney hasn’t shared any details about where or when the characters will return.
NEW: Feb. 1 will be the final day to see Donald, Daisy, and Chip & Dale in DinoLand. After the land is closed as of Feb. 2, the characters will relocate to another area of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, with more details to be shared later.
Right now, Donald, Daisy, Chip, and Dale meet guests in dinosaur-themed outfits as part of Donald’s Dino-Bash!, an ongoing event in DinoLand U.S.A. Donald Duck currently meets near Restaurantosaurus, while the other three meet at two different locations on the Cretaceous Trail. It’s unclear whether the characters will keep their dinosaur costumes when they move to other locations at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.

Walt Disney World Resort guests can still meet Donald, Daisy, Chip, and Dale at locations throughout Magic Kingdom Park, EPCOT, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Check the My Disney Experience app for the most up-to-date entertainment schedules.
