A former Disney cast member recently shared the video that led to his termination from Disneyland Resort.

Every day, tens of thousands of cast members make the magic happen at Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure Park, Downtown Disney, and the Southern California Disney Resort hotels. Each role has its own strict policies and protocols, but every Disney cast member must follow basic guidelines explained during the onboarding process. Every employer has rules, but The Walt Disney Company is known for its detailed regulations and exemplary customer service.

Unfortunately, Disneyland Resort fired @offeruphustle on TikTok for not following its social media policies. The former Disney cast member recently shared that he was terminated after filming this video of after-hours cleaning crews and vehicles on Main Street, U.S.A.:

@offeruphustle

The video that got me FIRED. Sucks cuz I was days away from quitting and doing OfferUp full time and running my laser business.They beat me to the punch 😂😂 #disneyland

“The video that got me fired from Disneyland,” the former Disney cast member wrote.

Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort prohibit filming backstage (the Disney term for cast member-only areas). Although Main Street, U.S.A., is considered “onstage” during regular Disneyland Park hours, it becomes backstage after all guests are cleared from the park. The Disney parks don’t allow cast members to share anything unsafe for magic, including after-hours cleaning protocols like this one.

The video amassed nearly 500,000 views and hundreds of comments debating the Disney cast member’s termination. Many chastised the TikToker for breaking Disneyland Resort’s employee rules.

“All employers have rules- you don’t follow them, there’s a possibility you will get fired,” @cclizz24 commented.

“We’re kinda told not to record anything on stage or backstage,” said another former Disney cast member, @vchavarin. “I use to work at emporium & even to the walk backstage while it looked like that we weren’t allowed to have phones out.”

In response, the TikToker said they wanted to show off how hard after-hours cast members work to keep Disneyland Park clean: “Ppl would say Disney don’t wash the floors everyday. Well I was the one washing the floors everyday except Wednesday/Thursday rain or shine.”

Still, some users defended the former cast member and said Disneyland Resort’s rules were too strict.

“That’s a crazy reason to get fired,” @tiktokuser41797 argued. “As a magic key holder I appreciate seeing all the hard work involved after hours.”

“Disney is so dramatic! I swear,” @fabbulousfabbs agreed.

Disneyland Resort did not issue a public response to the former cast member’s video.

Should this Disney cast member have been fired? Inside the Magic would love to hear your opinion in the comments!
