If you’ve been thinking about a summer trip to Walt Disney World, this might just be the year to pack your bags. Disney has officially cranked up the energy (and the fans) for what they’re calling Cool KID SUMMER—and it’s filled with fresh shows, unique characters, and some unexpected musical magic.

One of the most surprising (and honestly, welcome) additions this year? EPCOT’s American Gardens Theater has been transformed into a mini summer concert venue thanks to the return of live acts like Mariachi Cobre and Command Performance. These aren’t just filler shows—Disney is treating guests to a full lineup of live music while the park transitions between its major festivals.
EPCOT’s Summer Sounds: A Musical Treat Between Festivals
Normally, the theater across from The American Adventure sits quietly until big events like the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival begin. But this year, Disney decided not to let that stage go to waste.
British rock band Command Performance, typically found over in the U.K. Pavilion, has taken up residence at the American Gardens Theater from July 18–22 and again July 25–26. They’re playing a full set five times a day—3:15 p.m., 4:15 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 6:45 p.m., and 8:00 p.m.—and bringing decades of U.K. rock and pop hits to the heart of EPCOT.

Then, starting July 27, the legendary Mariachi Cobre takes over. This beloved group usually performs at the Mexico Pavilion, but for three weeks this summer, they’ll light up the big stage every Saturday through Wednesday. Their energetic take on traditional Mexican folk music brings something truly special to the park.
This bonus entertainment—officially dubbed Summer Sounds of EPCOT—isn’t part of a festival, but it feels like one. It’s giving guests a chance to relax, enjoy the atmosphere, and catch high-quality live performances in between attractions and snacks.
Beyond the Music: Cool KID SUMMER Is Packed With Surprises
Of course, the fun isn’t limited to EPCOT. Each park has embraced the summer theme in a unique way, offering a bunch of fresh experiences just for the season.
Over at Magic Kingdom, a brand-new nighttime parade called Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away is turning heads with its glowing floats and character-filled magic. Plus, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has finally opened to eager fans looking to splash into a new story.

At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, guests can check out the brand-new villain show Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After, where Maleficent, Cruella de Vil, and other baddies take center stage. And The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure has debuted with stunning visuals and a bold new retelling of Ariel’s journey.
Exclusive Entertainment Options You’ll Only Find This Summer
If you love rare experiences, summer 2025 is delivering in a big way. EPCOT’s CommuniCore Hall is hosting GoofyCore, a wacky, high-energy show, while ¡Celebración Encanto! brings the Madrigal family to life in a vibrant sing-along on the outdoor stage.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom hasn’t been left out either. Alongside mainstays like Kilimanjaro Safaris and Festival of the Lion King, summer visitors can enjoy special character appearances and a few limited-time surprises woven into daily park programming.
And don’t forget the nighttime events. From Disney After Hours at EPCOT and Hollywood Studios to the splashy H2O Glow Nights at Typhoon Lagoon, these hard-ticket events offer lower wait times, fun snacks, and the chance to see the parks in a whole new light—literally.
Why This Summer Feels So Different
What makes this season stand out isn’t just the shows or characters—it’s the vibe. Disney has managed to fill that awkward lull between spring and fall with unexpected entertainment, giving guests more reasons to come during the summer months. It feels spontaneous, creative, and honestly… fun.
Whether you’re dancing in front of the American Gardens Theater, dodging a splash on Kali River Rapids, or watching villains ham it up under the stage lights, there’s something refreshing about the way Disney has tackled summer in 2025.
If you’re still on the fence about a summer Disney trip, don’t wait too long—some of these experiences will vanish with the season. And with live music filling the air and magic happening in every corner, it’s safe to say this is one of the “coolest” summers Disney has ever had.
