On March 14, Disney released the highly anticipated trailer for Freakier Friday, the sequel to the 2003 film Freaky Friday starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan. The new film shows Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan — Tess and Anna Coleman, respectively — switching bodies once again, only this time, they don’t switch with each other. Instead, they switch with Ann’s daughter and soon-to-be stepdaughter.

More than twenty years after the original film premiered, Tess and Anna Coleman are back, and this time, Anna needs help. She is set to be married, but she is having trouble connecting with her future stepdaughter, Lily (Sophia Hammons).

As is Coleman tradition, fate intervenes, and body swapping is taken to a whole new level. Anna swaps bodies with her daughter Harper (Julia Butters), and Tess swaps bodies with Lily. In spending time living the other person’s life, Lily, Anna, Harper, and Tess learn how complicated family dynamics can be, but how chosen family can truly be a blessing.

While it was exciting to see Curtis and Lohan reprise their roles, it is a special cameo that has fans absolutely freaking out.

At the 1:18 marker, Elaine Hendrix can be seen for a quick second, but blink, and you just might miss her! She is seen wearing a waitress uniform and standing in a restaurant  — possibly the Chinese restaurant from the original film?

If you are wondering what makes Elaine Hendrix’s so special, then you might want to talk to your favorite millennial.

They will tell you that Lohan and Hendrix have a special Disney past that makes this cameo truly memorable.

In 1998, 12-year-old Lohan starred in a role that would launch her career — Disney’s The Parent Trap. In the film, Lohan played Annie and Hallie Parker, twins separated at birth who meet at summer camp. They decide to swap places so they can meet their other parent and, eventually, reunite their family for the first time in more than a decade.

Things are thrown into chaos when Annie (pretending to be Hallie) learns that her father is engaged to a woman nearly half his age — the stunning yet opportunistic and gold-digging Meredith Blake. Hallie and Annie must team up to take Meredith down, prove her ulterior motives, and show their parents that they were meant to be together.

Meredith Blake was played by none other than Elaine Hendrix, who has embraced her villainous role over the years! She has even taken to social media to campaign for her character, demanding justice after Meredith had to deal with two trickster twins.

Based on the trailer, it does not appear that Hendrix will play a large role, but her presence will still be felt. For years, fans have been hoping for a Parent Trap reunion, and this gets us pretty close.

Freakier Friday will also star Manny Jacinto as Eric Davies, Anna’s fiancé, and Vanessa Bayer as a fortune-teller. A number of the original film’s stars will also return, including Chad Michael Murray, who played Anna’s high school boyfriend Jake. Christina Vidal and Haley Hudson will be back as Maddie and Peg, Anna’s Pink Slip bandmates.

Freakier Friday will hit theaters nationwide on August 8.

Were you shocked and excited to see Elaine Hendrix in the Freakier Friday trailer? Which of the original film’s characters are you looking forward to seeing reprise their role? Will you be seeing the new movie in theaters? Let us know in the comments!
