The idea of remaking Jurassic Park (1993) is widely considered blasphemy. Steven Spielberg’s ground-breaking sci-fi thriller is one of the most iconic films of all time. For better or for worse, it also transformed the cinematic landscape as we know it forever.
But now that Jurassic World Rebirth (2025) is finally out in theaters, many fans have expressed their desire to see the series rebooted from scratch. Why? The seventh film in the long-running series is pretty bad, and despite all the promises from the filmmakers that it would return to the “horror roots” of the original film, it failed to do so at every opportunity.

Another Jurassic Sequel Will Deliver Where Rebirth Failed
Fortunately, fans will soon get to have their cake and eat it, as another upcoming sequel will reunite them with the much preferred Park era (it’s becoming increasingly hard to remember this franchise once fell under the name Jurassic Park and not Jurassic World). What’s also great is that won’t interfere with the beloved 1993 film. Well, for the most part.
“Jurassic Park: Survival” is a first-person action-adventure video game set 24 hours after the events of the first film. Fans have been buzzing with excitement since the trailer dropped during the Game Awards in December 2023. We’ve not had a great deal to go on since then, but we the project is in active development, although a release window is nowhere in sight.

“Jurassic Park: Survival” Will Likely Re-Create Iconic Moments From the 1993 Film
Setting a game — which, in this instance, also acts as a sequel — directly after Jurassic Park (1993) is nothing short of genius. Whether it will pay off remains to be seen, but so far, “Survival” is shaping up to be a thrilling addition to the franchise, and one that’s already being compared to the 2014 game “Alien: Isolation” in terms of horror and overall design.
Like that game, “Survival” will likely also follow up many story elements from its 1993 predecessor. As such, we may see many parts of the film “remastered” in video game form. The game has already taken the film’s dinosaurs and given them a full digital remastering (Tyrannosaurus Rex, the Velociraptor, Dilophosaurus, Gallimimus — they’re all confirmed).

But whether the sequel will also remaster certain scenes from the film, perhaps in some kind of “Previously” recap, flashbacks, or even characters themselves (will we get to see the likes of Samuel L. Jackson’s Mr. Arnold or Richard Attenborough’s John Hammond appearing in video logs?), only time will tell. But one thing’s for sure — when you finally get to sink your teeth into “Survival”, you’ll probably never look at the first film in the same way again.
What’s “Jurassic Park: Survival” About?
“Return to Isla Nublar the day after the events of the beloved 1993 Jurassic Park film in an original adventure 65 million years in the making,” the synopsis reads. “Survive thrilling first-person action as InGen scientist Dr. Maya Joshi, who was unable to evacuate Isla Nublar, in this single-player action-adventure game and discover a never-before-told story.
“Through thrilling encounters, experience the wonder and danger of dinosaurs, each with their own distinct and adaptive behaviors brought to life by John Hammond’s vision.”
There’s no release date for the game. Visit the website for more information.
