This news marks the end of a fast-food era at Disneyland Paris, as this particular McDonald’s has not only served millions of guests since its opening in 1999 but was also known as the largest McDonald’s in all of France.
A New McDonald’s Is Already Underway
While the original building is facing demolition, fans of the golden arches won’t be left out in the cold. A brand-new, two-story McDonald’s is currently under construction just next door. Work began in September 2024, and the sleek, modernized version is expected to open in 2026, in sync with the broader reinvention of Disney Village.
Inside the Massive Disney Village Overhaul
The closure and replacement of McDonald’s is just one piece of a much larger puzzle. Disneyland Paris kicked off a massive, multi-year revitalization of Disney Village in 2021, set to span five to six years and transform the entire 40,000 m² space into a reimagined shopping, dining, and entertainment district.
According to Natacha Rafalski, President of Disneyland Paris, the goal is to “reinvent our destination” and appeal to a new generation of visitors. The transformation focuses on a modern visual identity, more walkable green spaces, Parisian-inspired dining, and nighttime ambiance featuring music, art, and illuminated promenades.
“We’re excited to enrich Disney Village with new, iconic and timeless concepts,” Rafalski said during the project’s reveal.
What’s New (or Coming Soon) to Disney Village?

Here’s a breakdown of key changes already completed—or currently underway—as part of the Disney Village transformation:
-
Rosalie Brasserie (Opened Dec. 2023): A French fine dining replacement for Café Mickey, offering classic brasserie fare and lakeside views.
-
The Royal Pub (Opened Feb. 2023): A British-style pub replacing King Ludwig’s Castle, serving up fish & chips, pies, and Guinness.
-
Casa Giulia (Opening 2026): A new Italian restaurant replacing Planet Hollywood, operated by the Bertrand Group, offering both table service and takeaway.
-
Disney Style & Disney Glamour (Opening March 8, 2025): Two boutique fashion and accessories stores, with a focus on Edna Mode branding and personalization experiences.
-
Déco by Disney (Opening April 2025): A home goods store offering decor items, collectibles, and even on-demand Disney art prints.
-
LEGO Store Revamp (Reopened April 19, 2025): Now featuring interactive installations and impressive LEGO sculptures at the entrance.
-
Disney Store & Sports Bar: Both will reopen later in the project timeline, with refreshed offerings and interiors.
-
Annette’s Diner: One of the few locations staying as-is—preserving a bit of retro Americana amid the overhaul.
With the demolition of McDonald’s now officially underway and a new two-story flagship in the works, Disney Village is turning a bold new page. What began as a lively entertainment corridor decades ago is rapidly evolving into a stylish, immersive, and story-driven district aligned with the expansion of Walt Disney Studios Park into the future Disney Adventure World.
Whether you’re a returning guest or a first-timer, expect a very different Disney Village experience by 2026—with dazzling dining, upscale shops, and even more Disney magic under the Parisian sky.
