Hundreds of Disneyland Resort guests must find a different way to enter Disney California Adventure Park. As of Monday, May 12, 2025, one of the second Southern California Disney park‘s entrances is now closed through mid-June.
Some of the Southern California Disney Resort hotels offer exclusive entrances to Disney California Adventure Park, enticing guests with shorter wait times and far fewer steps to the gate. Unfortunately, guests’ ability to take advantage of this Disney Resort hotel perk has been limited this year.

On Monday, the Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa entrance to Disney California Adventure Park finally reopened after two months of work on upgrading the turnstiles. However, the news of the reopening came alongside another immediate closure.
According to theme park journalist Scott Gustin (@ScottGustin) on X (formerly known as Twitter), the Pixar Place Hotel entrance to Disney California Adventure Park is now closed for the same turnstile upgrade. The exclusive Disney Park entrance is expected to remain closed until mid-June, though an exact reopening date has not been announced.

Disneyland Resort encourages Pixar Place Hotel guests to use other theme park entrances, including the newly reopened gate near Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa (near GCH Craftsman Bar and Grill).
NEW: Pixar Place Hotel’s dedicated entrance to Disney California Adventure Park is closed starting today through through mid-June while crews install new turnstiles.
Disney says: “During this time, Guests may access the park through an alternate entrance located in Disney’s Grand California Hotel & Spa, near GCH Craftsman Bar and Grill.”

Since late 2024, crews have been upgrading the turnstiles at the main esplanade entrances to Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park in phases to reduce the impact on guests. The upgraded “tapstiles” feature facial recognition technology, digital screens, and touchless transparent gates, replacing the old barcode scanners and metal turnstiles. Until the new theme park entry features are fully functional, Disney cast members use tablets and mobile devices to scan guests’ tickets, MagicBands, and digital tickets.

Disneyland Resort has yet to announce an exact date for reopening the Pixar Place Hotel entrance to Disney California Adventure Park. Stay tuned for updates on this and other construction projects at Disney parks around the world!
