Walt Disney World Resort will reportedly close its controversial Frozen Ever After ride for a short refurbishment beginning Saturday, November 2. The EPCOT Norway World Showcase Pavilion attraction has long been contentious after it took over the former Maelstrom, replacing an original storyline with a Disney Princess property.

Frozen Ever After loosely retells the events of Frozen (2013). It begins with Olaf and Sven excitedly telling Disney Park guests they’re headed to Elsa’s ice palace. Riders then see little trolls asking Grand Pabbie to tell Anna and Elsa’s story again.

The boat ascends a small hill, and guests see Elsa singing “Let It Go” atop her icey balcony. Guests go backward and meet Marshmallow, the snow monster, who sends them barreling down the ride’s biggest drop. Princess Anna and Elsa await riders in their outfits from the Frozen Fever (2015) short. Oh, and don’t worry–like any good Walt Disney World Resort attraction, Frozen Ever After ends in a gift shop!

Earlier this year, Inside the Magic reported that Frozen Ever After would close for regular refurbishment from November 2 to November 6, 2024. Disney Parks fans were hopeful that the refurbishment would decrease repeated issues with the facial projection mapping technology used on the ride’s Princess Anna, Queen Elsa, and Kristoff animatronics.

Our friends at WDW Magazine reported the same closure in recent days, but Walt Disney World Resort appears to have removed it from their website–Frozen Ever After reports regular operating hours from November 2 to November 6.

It’s unclear if Frozen Ever After will remain open during the previously scheduled refurbishment period. Its last refurbishment was in January 2024. Guests should reference the Walt Disney World Resort website and My Disney Experience app for the most updated closure information.

These reports don’t impact Frozen Ever After’s sister attractions at Hong Kong Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.
