A popular social media post has accused Walt Disney World Resort of charging more for shower access at its Deluxe Resort hotels. Let’s dive into the truth behind the rumors.

Walt Disney World Resort offers three different types of Disney Resort hotels: Deluxe, Moderate, and Value. From campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort to Disney Vacation Club (DVC) villas and bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, more than 20 Walt Disney World Resort hotels mean that there’s an option for every family, no matter the budget. However, a recent social media rumor alleged that the Central Florida Disney destination is trying to squeeze more money out of guests at its most expensive lodging locations.

Earlier this month, Reddit user u/nineteen_eightyfour noticed something strange while trying to book a Deluxe Studio at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. The luxurious room comes with the standard hotel room fare, plus a porch or balcony and a kitchenette. But the booking page led the social media user to believe that their Disney Resort hotel room might not come with a necessity in the Central Florida heat: a shower.

Oof hope the rate for the shower isn’t too much more. I like showers.

The booking page splits the “Deluxe Studio – Resort View” and “Deluxe Studio with Shower – Resort View” into two categories, suggesting that the first room type wouldn’t have a shower. Fortunately, this isn’t the case.

The “Deluxe Studio with Shower – Resort View” specifies that it has a shower because the “Deluxe Studio – Resort View” comes with shower/tub combos, which are inaccessible for many disabled Walt Disney World Resort guests. The accessible rooms come with a walk-in shower, which is best for guests with mobility issues or adult couples but might not appeal to families with young children.

The distinct booking options allow every family to book the shower type that works best for them. Both room types have the same price tag, whether paying with cash or DVC points.

Despite the boring truth behind the misleading screenshot, Disney Parks fans had some excellent commentary about the idea of Walt Disney World Resort hotels charging more for shower access.

“I wouldn’t splurge on the shower, it rains almost daily in FL this time of year,” u/onimush115 commented. “Just bring a bar of soap with you into the parks and make use of that time in line!”

“This is how I envision the pricing for camping at Fort Wilderness,” u/Payton03tamu replied. “Do you prefer a shower or to just use the lake as a bathtub?”
