May 16, 2025, is going to be a big day for The Walt Disney Company. It will mark the start of Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary celebration, which will include new entertainment, parades, merchandise, and the opening of the animatronic Walt Disney.
Disneyland will bring Walt back to life in a new show, Walt Disney: A Magical Life. Guests will journey through Walt’s life, culminating with the latest animatronic coming alive in Walt’s office.
This is meant to be a celebration of all that Walt Disney has achieved throughout his life, culminating with the day he announced, “To All Who Come to This Happy Place. — Welcome — Disneyland is your land,” on July 17, 1955, when he officially opened Disneyland to the public.
Disney was hoping that everything would be perfect for its latest celebration of Walt and Disneyland. However, things got off to a bit of an awkward start, thanks to a slip-up during Disney’s commercial announcing the 70th Anniversary of Disneyland.
During this year’s Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade, Disney debuted several upcoming features and attractions at its parks and movie studios. Disney took advantage of its captive audiences to debut new scenes from the live-action Snow White (2025) and Captain America: Brave New World (2025).
Disney also released an exciting new commercial for the Walt Disney World Resort, which teased its new Villains Land. Commercials were also shown for other Disney-related products, such as its EPSN NBA coverage and the Disney Cruiseline.
Disney debuted its commercial for the 70th Anniversary of Disneyland with Mickey Mouse in his new celebratory costume dancing down Main Street, U.S.A. However, fans started to notice a slight problem with Disney’s newest ad.
A few seconds into the commercial, there is an overhead shot of the hub in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, which also shows some of the rides and attractions behind the castle. Fans began to note that something looked off in the commercial’s 3D model of the rides.
Disney accidentally used a 3D model of the Magic Kingdom and not Disneyland behind Sleeping Beauty Castle. So, instead of creating a new model that would show Disneyland rides, Disney just swapped the castles and hoped that no one would notice the change.
I was trying to figure out why the park looked so wrong with some friends… They used an existing 3D model of Magic Kingdom and placed Disneyland’s castle + the compass in the middle LOL https://t.co/Knu7bgBx5u pic.twitter.com/A6xrtDKmDj

But fans did notice, calling the filming “lazy” and calling out every other mistake that Disney has made over the past few years. It’s not a good look that Disney couldn’t even get their own parks right.
If this is the start of Disneyland’s 70th Anniversary, it leaves much to be desired and raises questions about what Disney plans to do next.
