After performing incredibly well at the summer box office, Alien: Romulus will finally debut on Disney+ this November.
Since its initial launch in 2019, Disney+ has become one of the more robust streaming platforms in the industry, offering subscribers thousands of hours of content. This content includes Marvel Studios, Star Wars, and Lucasfilm projects, as well as Pixar, Walt Disney Animation, and, of course, Disney+ originals.
While The Walt Disney Company is often viewed as a family-friendly organization, Disney+ also features a significant chunk of adult-oriented content. Disney continues to focus more on content made for older audiences, reaching into its ever-expanding treasure chest of brands and franchises it now has the rights to, including the world-renowned Alien series of films.
Fans can already stream the entire Alien saga on Disney+, with this collection growing by one later this November.

According to Deadline, Alien: Romulus will officially be free to stream for Hulu subscribers starting November 21. The film will also be available to stream on Disney+’s Hulu page for subscribers with the bundle.
Now has never been a better time to be an Alien fan, as the franchise seems to have entered a new golden age with the release of Alien: Romulus.
Alien: Romulus officially released on August 16, 2024, and while many fans hoped the new entry would reinvigorate the brand, few could have predicted just how successful this new chapter in the Alien franchise would turn out. Romulus ended its theatrical run with roughly $350 million on a modest $80 million budget.
Not only did Romulus impress compared to other films in the Alien franchise, but it also became 2024’s highest-grossing horror film, just slightly edging out A Quiet Place: Day One.
To put things into perspective, 2017’s Alien: Covenant, the most recent Alien film to be released prior to Romulus, grossed $240 million.
Covenant itself marked an interesting point in the franchise, coming off the heels of the incredibly divisive and controversial Prometheus, which was released in 2012.

Prometheus performed exceptionally well at the box office, generating roughly $400 million, though it likely turned some off from the franchise entirely due to its rather lofty ambitions and somewhat confusing storyline implications.
This is not to say that Prometheus does not have fans, with many considering it to be just as good as the original films in the series, like Aliens (1986), Alien 3 (1992), and the original Alien (1979), but it’s clear there was a steep financial drop-off when comparing Prometheus to Covenant.
Romulus has seemingly proved interest in the franchise still remains high, and with the new made-for-streaming TV series Alien: Earth set to debut in 2025, it’s clear the Alien brand will continue to hold its place as a pop culture cornerstone.
