1,200+ days, 3 years 6 months, 41 months, or however you’d like to measure time, it has been a long time since the Woody’s Lunch Box shaded seating area project began. In fact, our first article about the improvements was published back in January 2022, and it looks like work on the project is essentially complete. Of course, there is still some ongoing construction at Woody’s Lunch Box in support of another backstage project that began after the shaded seating area project began, but that’s a story for another day. Today, we celebrate shade.
Woody’s Lunch Box Shaded Seating Area Complete
Of course, it doesn’t take 3.5 years to build a shaded seating area. While the project began back in early 2022, it wasn’t until September 2024 that we saw indications that the project would finally be worked on again. By October 2024, we started to float the idea that a shade structure was going to finally be built and completed at Woody’s Lunch Box.
It wouldn’t be until February 2025 that we would spot the first frame installed for the shaded seating area. The first shaded seating area would open in early April, and now it looks like all of the shade structures have been built, with only some touch-ups necessary before Disney can close the books on the project.
The sections of shaded seating to be most recently completed include a seating area at the back of the dining area, closest to the Woody’s Lunch Box building (where construction first began), and a standing area closest to the sweeping turn for Slinky Dog Dash. We made it out to Disney’s Hollywood Studios this morning to take a look around!
