At this year’s SXSW conference, Disney execs took to the stage to preview some of the projects coming to Disney Parks around the world. In a long-overdue update, Disney has announced that the playful BDX droids that have been exclusive to Disneyland will soon be making a trip around the world, stopping in to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World. Here’s the announcement:
BDX Droids Coming to Walt Disney World
You might have seen the playful BDX droids puttering around Disneyland before, and soon they’ll make a trip around the world to visit Walt Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris. And that’s in addition to the little droids appearing in The Mandalorian and Grogu film, too.

The little droids made their debut at Disneyland back in October 2023 as the theme park that is the preferred playground for Walt Disney Imagineering. At the time, they were only a 1-day test, but they were later brought back to Disneyland for a longer run.
The droids earned Disney a Thea award for technological innovation, and the droids connected with guests from the first day that they stepped foot on Batuu.
Critically, the droids represented a longstanding promise from Walt Disney Imagineering to have roaming droids within the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge land. While it was great to see them roaming at Disneyland, the “be fair to Florida” movement took another blow as East Coasters saw West Coasters get something cool again that we thought would never make it to Florida.
With this weekend’s announcement, the scales are balanced a bit as Disney looks to bring the droids down to the swamp in Central Florida. Not only are the BDX Droids coming to Florida, but they’re also coming to the big screen with the debut of The Mandalorian and Grogu film hitting theaters in 2026.

Speaking of The Mandalorian and Grogu, Disney announced a debut date for the new mission coming to Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run as well. For more details, check out our article below!
