While visiting Magic Kingdom this morning, we stopped by Tomorrowland to check in on the Astro Orbiter refurbishment, as it approaches its fourth month of closure. Earlier this month, we got a first look at the new paint scheme for the elevator tower that takes guests from Tomorrowland up to the Astro Orbiter ride platform. Now, that new silver paint scheme has extended to most of the tower. Here’s a look around.

Walt Disney World has not announced a reopening date for the attraction, and with the entire ride system still missing (not to mention all of the planets), it doesn’t look like it’ll be reopening anytime soon. Officially, Walt Disney World has said that Astro Orbiter will reopen this summer.
With a massive refresh for the nearby Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin set to kick off this August, you’d imagine that Disney would want Astro Orbiter reopened before Buzz Lightyear closes, but that’s purely speculation. We’re still waiting for Disney to announce the exact timing.
