As we continue to watch the changes taking place at the main entrance to EPCOT, we have an update on the physical gates that we first spotted almost a month ago. About a week after we noticed the gates were installed, they were removed from the main entrance. At the time, it was unclear why the new gates were removed, but the physical gates have returned, this time slightly different than when we first spotted them. Here’s the latest.

Physical Gates Return to EPCOT Main Entrance

As you can see in the photos below, the gates have returned, looking very similar to how they looked before their removal. The biggest difference is the “default” orientation. When we first spotted the gates, their default position was closed. Now, the default position appears to be open. It’s an interesting change, but I’d assume that the work here isn’t done. In fact, as you’ll soon see, work appears to be expanding for the project.

On the right, or west, side of the entrance plaza. There appears to be some work underway to install more gates. Here’s a look at that ongoing work, along with a look at the gates installed on this side of the plaza. Both sides of the plaza have two gates installed, but the majority of the entrance tappoints don’t have gates yet, including the central tappoints that are most commonly utilized during normal park operations.
