After starting late last month, we made it out to Bay Lake Tower recently to take a look at the ongoing progress of the room refurbishment project. As with most room refurbishment projects, the work is being done in waves, and we have a pretty good idea of what rooms are included in this first wave of work. Last month, we had an idea that the project was starting thanks to a notice to guests that the south elevators would be unavailable. Now, thanks to a sunny afternoon, we can see the blocks of rooms that are being gutted at the moment.

Bay Lake Tower Room Refurbishment Project

We stopped in to take a look at the Bay Lake Tower refurbishment during the same afternoon that we spotted a large crane at Fort Wilderness for the construction of a 10-story hotel.

Our first look at Bay Lake Tower comes from onboard watercraft traveling on Bay Lake. We can start to see some signs of refurbishment, but it’s not until we get to the Contemporary Resort dock that we can confirm the scope of the refurbishment.

Black tarps block the windows of the rooms that are being gutted for the refurbishment.

It looks like floors 9-16 are under refurbishment on the south-facing side of Bay Lake Tower, and it looks like the refurbishment starts on floor 10 for the west-facing southern portion of the building.

Here’s an elevated look at the work from the Contemporary Resort.

And here’s a look at the third-party company taking the old furniture and appliances away from the site.
