As we continue to keep an eye on construction in the Woody’s Lunch Box seating area, we noticed that new pavement has been poured and themed in the area. Back in early September, the seating area was blocked off and tables were set up in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to function as a temporary seating area for guests who purchased food from the still-open Toy Story Land eatery. A week or so later, the entire seating area pavement was torn up.

During a recent visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we noticed that new themed pavement has been poured in the under-construction seating area, and that there might be hints that a proper shade structure might be on the way.

Construction at Woody’s Lunch Box Seating Area

A peek past the construction shrubs offers a look at the construction site and the recently installed themed pavement. Perhaps the most exciting part of this update is what appears to be some footer-style digs in the dirt in the area. Ideally, these footers are for some sort of substantial, themed shade structure that will also offer some protection from the rain and elements.

Creating a 100% outdoor quick service restaurant was a…choice… for the Walt Disney World theme parks. I can’t imagine any other reason to do this construction right now if it doesn’t include a shade structure when the work is done. Walt Disney World has not announced any details for the project, nor released any concept art for the final look. Here’s a look at the ongoing construction.
