Last year, Disney surprised guests by adding characters to the Princess Fairytale Hall trick-or-treat “treat trail”. This Princess Scarytale Hall surprise and delight moment was an instant hit with guests, and Disney has introduced more character surprises at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2025. I would describe the changes this year as a cautious expansion, and not really an all-in move, but it was fun to spot characters in a couple of new spots this year. Here’s what we found!

Romeo McGrowl at the Country Bear Musical Jamboree Treat Trail

We’ll start in Frontierland, where we found Romeo McGrowl inside the Country Bear Musical Jamboree theater as part of the treat trail. Disney took the year off last year from utilizing the Country Bear Musical Jamboree as a treat trail location, but it has been used in years prior.

We actually noticed that Romeo wasn’t in the 8:15pm showing of Mickey’s Boo-To-You Halloween Parade, and my suspicion is that he was inside Grizzly Hall at the time. It’ll be interesting to see if he pauses his interactions in Grizzly Hall during the 8:15pm parade in future parties to join the parade or not.

Donald Duck in Mickey’s PhilharMagic

Donald Duck has left Storybook Circus and, instead, can be found inside Mickey’s PhilharMagic. Just like the other character encounters in the treat trail locations, Donald is available periodically, so there isn’t a guarantee that you’ll see him. That said, we did a few laps through the treat trail (more candy!) and eventually we saw him in the queue handing out high-fives and posing for a quick selfie.

Princess Scarytale Hall Returns

Also returning this year is Princess Fairytale Scarytale Hall. Guests can find Maleficent and the Evil Queen on either side of the room when going through the treat trail. For a look at Princess Scarytale Hall, check out our article from last year’s debut!

While Princess Scarytale Hall was a wonderful surprise last year, Disney has failed to keep the momentum going this year. I would’ve loved to have seen a few more Treat Trails feature villains. That said, I also understand that guests like the ability to actually meet with characters and take their time with interactions, so it’s a tough balance.
