Magic Kingdom ferryboat service resumed operations late this morning following a reported incident. Earlier this morning guests reported that Magic Kingdom ferryboat service was suspended following an impact of some sort. While the exact details of the incident aren’t known at this time, comments on social media suggest that the boat may have abnormally impacted the dock.

Reported Ferryboat Incident at Magic Kingdom

While visiting Magic Kingdom, we didn’t find any obvious evidence of the reported incident, and ferryboat service was operational when we arrived. That said, we were able to confirm with Cast Members that ferryboat service was suspended this morning, and that it resumed shortly after 11am.

Because the ferryboats are free-floating vessels, bumping can occur when docking. There are audio announcements warning guests that bumping can occur. A hard docking such as the reported incident today is relatively rare, but not impossible.

Whatever the incident was that led to the suspension of service, it likely wasn’t too serious if operations were able to resume within a couple of hours. Back in July 2021, the General Joe Potter ferryboat was involved in a “marine incident”, requiring the response of the Orange County Sheriff. Early indications are that there was no such response to today’s reported incident. We will update the story with more details should they become available.
