The long-broken cannons have been fixed within Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disneyland Park. The cannons broke shortly after the attraction opened at Disney’s Hollywood Studios back in December 2019 and have not worked since. Disneyland confirmed that the cannons are working again, according to reporter Scott Gustin.
Rise of the Resistance Cannons Fixed
Back when Rise of the Resistance opened, it represented the culmination of every trick and technique that Walt Disney Imagineering had in its playbook. The ride utilizes trackless ride vehicles to whisk guests through a First Order ship as they escape the clutches of Kylo Ren.
While there are many standout moments within the attraction, one moment that was especially amazing was full-size cannons shooting at ships. The cannons danced in front of guests, allowing vehicles to pass by as they recoiled from the blaster fire. Unfortunately, the cannons broke shortly after the ride opened. While the effect has been restored at Disneyland, there is no word if Walt Disney World will be restoring the effect anytime soon. The cannons were not working as recently as two days ago at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Disney World did not immediately return a request for comment.
