At Walt Disney World, we’re at the start of a new influx of construction projects. The Tropical Americas project at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is moving along nicely. The Rivers of America will be drained soon, and Tom Sawyer Island will be demolished at Magic Kingdom for a new Cars-themed area. Now, new aerial photos from Bioreconstruct show the latest work being done for a massive building to house the Monsters Inc. door vault roller coaster coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Here’s the latest!

Land Clearing for Monsters Inc. Roller Coaster

The aerial photos below show the latest progress on the demolition of existing pavement in a Cast Member parking lot. The demolition is happening in the shape of the new structure, which will be among the largest attraction show buildings at Walt Disney World, according to our earlier reporting.

In the aerial photo immediately below, we can see the closed Muppets Courtyard at the bottom of the photo, and the massive building-shaped land clearing effort at the top of the photo.

In this next photo, we get a reverse angle from the one above. It’s striking just how big this building is. The upper left side of the photo shows the gray show building for the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance attraction. That attraction is already an impressive scale, but the Monsters Inc. door vault roller coaster building will be some 11% larger.

In this final overview photo, we can see just how much Walt Disney World is expanding the footprint of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The new building will be some 100,000+ square feet, and Disney is using a portion of the Cast Member parking lot to expand its theme park.
