Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a permit for the installation of a new marquee for the upcoming The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The new show which was originally supposed to debut this Fall has been delayed until next Summer as Disney begins work on the exterior of the building. Yesterday, Walt Disney World announced that they would file a permit for an all-new marquee soon and that “work on the exterior of the building will begin soon, in preparation for the premiere of this fully reimagined show in summer 2025”. Walt Disney World has not released concept art for the new marquee.

The contractor for the work is Design Communications Ltd. – a firm that has done a lot of work for Walt Disney World in the past including a refresh of the Magic Kingdom Train Station entrance sign, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Roundup Rodeo BBQ, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Storybook Circus, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, and more!

The current version of the marquee, which is significantly more worn down now (currently held together by zip-ties) than the file photos below, features dimensional versions of Ariel, Sebastian, and Flounder, and flat depictions of Ursula and King Triton.

When it opens, the show will feature stunning new set pieces, cutting-edge effects, and a bold new design that captures Ariel’s imagination and emotions through her unique view of the world around her.

“The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” will have guests flipping their fins to musical numbers inspired by the film including “Part of Your World,” “Poor Unfortunate Souls,” and more. Check out this beautiful concept artwork of the show’s “Kiss the Girl” scene – an all-new addition that captures the magic of this fresh production.
