Universal Orlando Resort has announced that it will be closing the Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster earlier than previously announced. Late last year, Universal announced that the jam-packed ride would close in “early September 2025”. Universal continued to communicate to guests that the ride would close in early September 2025 as recently as last week. Now, that date has shifted.

According to an update to the Universal Orlando Resort website, Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit will now permanently close on August 18, 2025. Here’s the announcement:
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit will permanently close on August 18, 2025 to make way for a new experience. More details will be available at a later date.
This towering coaster offers a musical twist: As you strap in, you’ll pick the song you want to hear above your own shrieks. Adrenaline pumping and music thumping, you’ll climb toward the sky at a 90-degree angle and tackle the first ferocious drop. Topping out at 65 mph, this rip-roaring ride is a blast from beginning to end.
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit is over 17 stories tall, and it was a record-breaking roller coaster when it debuted, featuring the world’s first non-inverting loop.
Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit debuted in August 2009 at Universal Studios Florida, and it will be replaced by a yet-unnamed experience.
